OUR PASTOR

 

Reverend Johnny R. Arvie is one of eleven children born to Carlton and Irene Arvie on may 27, 1954. He is married to the gentle and loving Minister Joyce T. Arvie. God has blessed them with two beautiful children Rodney Arvie and Julia Andrews. He is a proud grandfather of Jayla Jolie Andrews, and Jada Johnell Andrews.

 

His educational achievements are impressive; he has a Bachelor of Science in Economics from Grambling State University and a Master of Divinity degree from Union Baptist Theological Seminary.

 

The most important expression of his Christian awakening was acknowledging the Master's calling to the ministry on January 29, 1988. His dedicated record of service at Israelite Baptist Church would cause him to be blessed in 1996 to serve as Pastor of Law Street Missionary Baptist Church.

 

In 2005 hurricane Katrina devastated the New Orleans area and Law Street was not spared from the devastation, however, this did not stop Pastor Arvie's vision for Law Street. He along side dedicated members of his congregation and many volunteers have worked tirelessly to rebuild Law Street Baptist Church.

 

Pastor Arvie has encircled Law Street Baptist Church with all his soul, heart, mind and body. He serves his congregation enthusiastically. He promotes healthy moral, social, physical and mental well being. Indeed Pastor Arvie is a man after God's heart. His favorite scripture is Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me". This man of God is certainly no stranger to hard work.
